Hurriyat hawk tries to give communal colour to highway closure | Forgets Jammu has become second home for Kashmiris due to Valley being in mess | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 13: Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani tried to give communal twist to the Kashmiri passengers getting stranded in Jammu due to the closure of the national highway. In a statement Geelani said, "Stranded passengers are financially exhausted and instead of providing them food and shelter, the government has left them to the mercy of the sick-minded Hindutva preachers, who thrashed and stoned these helpless people and made them to run for their life." An analyst while talking to Early Times said that Hurriyat hawk seems "ill-informed about the incident. The clashes between the stranded passengers and the students had erupted after a few miscreants raised pro-Pakistan slogans and vitiated the atmosphere. This had infuriated the students and they had reacted. So where is Hinduvata involved in this process," he added. He said that some people are propagating that stranded passengers in Jammu were looted by the traders by hiking the rates. "It's a blatant lie. In fact people of Jammu tried their best to help the stranded passengers and opened the gates of temples, gurduwaras and mosques to accommodate them," he added. An observer said that Hurriyat hawk tried to give communal colour to the highway closure and termed Jammu-Srinagar highway as "unnatural" road link to tell his bosses sitting in Pakistan that he won't miss any opportunity to advocate their cause. "This unnatural road link (Srinagar-Jammu highway) has consumed thousands of people and destroyed properties worth millions of rupees. This deadly link continues to suck the blood of Kashmiris for the past 71 years," Geelani said. An observer said that the Government of India has spent hundreds of crores on this highway and the work is on to turn this road into a four lane highway. "Instead of being thankful to GoI the Pak stooges like Geelani miss no opportunity to undermine the work the GoI is doing to develop Kashmir and keep it connected with the rest of the country throughout the year. It seems next time he would blame GoI even for the inclement weather conditions," the observer added. He said that it seems Geelani has forgotten that Jammu has become second home for Kashmiris due to disturbances prevailing in the Valley. "Since 1990 thousands of Kashmiri Muslims have shifted to Jammu and are living with the members of other communities. He should look towards Pakistan where the people belonging to same religion and community keep on killing each other at one or other pretext. The Hurriyat hawk should keep his sermons to himself and stay out from the affairs of Jammu region," the observer added. |
