Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 13: By strongly opposing proposal of the government to block 531 Million Cubic Meters (MCM) water to Pakistan, former chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's anti-Jammu face has been exposed. Instead of protecting interests of the residents of Kathua, Samba and Jammu, who would be benefitted from Ujh multipurpose project, Mehbooba Mufti is worried over farmers of Pakistan who is getting undue water from river Ujh on which farmers of Kathua, Samba and Jammu have first right.
Addressing a press conference at Srinagar Mehbooba Mufti opposed stopping water of Ujh river to Pakistan and opposed divert the spare water to Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
As per plan of the government by stopping water of Ujh river to Pakistan, barren land of kandi areas of Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts would be irrigated and this decision will change fate of the people of these three districts but Mehbooba Mufti's priority is protecting interest of Pakistani farmers.
Further exposing her communal and divisive agenda, she said there was a notion that New Delhi wants to disempower Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir, saying the government of India was playing with fire by implementing BJP's agenda through Governor Satya Pal Malik.
Mehbooba said her party didn't allow them (BJP) to implement their agenda in J&K when they were allies in the government.
"The agenda which we didn't allow BJP to implement here in J&K, that agenda is being implemented now through Governor (Satya Pal Malik). Govt of India is playing with fire. There is a notion that they want to disempower the Muslims of the state," Mehbooba said.
She also said the BJP didn't allow her party to implement forest act which is applicable across the country.
"BJP didn't allow us to implement Forest Act which is applicable across the country. Somehow they want to alienate the Muslim majority of the state," she added
