7/14/2019 7:29:45 PM

Jammu, 14th
Natrang’s Summer Theatre Camp for Children concluded here today with an outstanding performance of a new Children play ‘Badi Shararat Karte Thhey’ which was conceived and directed by Sumeet Sharma. The camp was supported by Sangeet Natak Akadem, New Delhi. Director Natrang, Sh. Balwant Thakur complemented that Sumeet Sharma is a Sangeet Natak Akademi’s National Yuva Awardee for Theatre Direction who has devised a distinctive and effective training module for children which is based on his vast experience of 15 years of doing meaningful theatre with children.
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof. Manoj K. Dhar was the Chief Guest at the occasion who appreciated Natrang’s endeavour of doing regular theatre with children since 1990 and inspiring the lives of thousands of children within this period and the efforts are still on. At the occasion Sh. Balwant Thakur informed about the initiatives taken by Natrang which make it one of the most trusted and result oriented destination for Children Theatre throughout the Country as we are doing it consistently with an urge to evolve and enhance our programmes every next day so that our children may compete anywhere on the basis of their talent and many of our students have proved their mettle at different prestigious platforms.
The play ‘Badi Shararat Karte Thhey’ was very well structured around four different stories which contained moral lessons in them alongwith a thick coating of humor and impressive acting by children. Children are shown celebrating their time spent in the workshop and recollect some of their fond memories of the same in a dramatic form. They relate that the games and activities which they have done during past 40 days were so engrossing that they are now able to perform difficult roles. In this discussion, three narrators erupt who further steer the play through four different stories which preach the lessons like ‘we shall not be greedy’, ‘we shall never lie’, ‘we shall never fall for false praise’ and ‘we shall not question the love of our parents’. Though appear didactic, but all the morality was preached in a highly entertaining manner, utilizing the acting, singing, dancing skills of the children. This was all presented in a highly dramatic form in which children created the scenes with the sheer prowess of their acting.
The content of the workshop was devised by none other than Mr. Balwant Thakur who has popularized the children theatre of Jammu at National level with his highly innovative plays like ‘Aap Hamare Hain Kaun’ and Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai’. Senior artists of Natrang Anil Tickoo and Neeraj Kant also imparted the training to the children in the workshop which was conducted by Sumeet Sharma and was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen, Gauri Thakur, Meenakshi Bhagat, Vrinda Sharma, Abhi Bargotra, and Sushant Singh Charak. Lights were operated by Shivam Singh and off stage management was looked after by Aarti Devi and Rishav Sharma.
