KOTERANKA, Aug 1: A pregnant woman, Zahida Begum of Badal was about to deliver but with no medical facility in proximity, an ASHA named Zareena Kosser called the block medical officer Kandi Dr Iqbal Malik at midnight around 11 AM. The BMO then dispatched the ambulance within 10 minutes and the ambulance reached the patient and picked her up to leave for CHC Kandi but on reaching Badhal road, Songri Gali, due to heavy rainfall, a landslide happened which badly blocked the road thereby leaving the ambulance stranded with the woman profusely bleeding. On getting information, the BMO informed the ADC Ved Prakash for clearance of the road although the JCB left to clear the road, the BMO left for the location with his own vehicle at 12 .30 AM with Dr Zia-ul- Haq, as no ambulance could get through the narrow roads in foggy atmosphere, after giving some life saving medicines and aid, he picked the patient along with family members in his own car and brought them to CHC Kandi by 3am. Later patient referred to District Hospital Rajouri at 6 a m. Both the mother and the child are now safe and stable now. People and civil society appreciated the role of ADC and the health department. |
