Dharmarth Trust facilitates devotees' | | | Early Times Report
Purmandal, Sept 28: Continuing with its age old tradition to look after the important temples and shrines of Jammu and Kashmir State and providing facilities to visiting devotees, Dharmarth Trust J&K ensured foolproof arrangements at Purmandal Utter Behni Shrines on the occasion of Pitr Paksh Amavasya, the day which is considered as most appropriate to pay obeisance to the souls of those who have departed for the heavenly abode. Despite inclement weather conditions, large number of devotees visited the Shrine on Saturday and performed various Poojas and rituals besides offering donations seeking attainment of Moksha for their dear ones who have left this world for heavenly abode. As the shrines are revered as most auspicious, the Dharmarth Trust J&K has taken lot of pain in ensuring that no devotee faces inconvenience with regard to basic facilities, cleanliness and other amenities. The arrangements were made keeping in mind the utmost sanctity of holy Devika River flowing in the vicinity which holds great importance in Dogra culture as the place is one of the most venerated Duggar Tirath Sthals. The Dharmarth Trust of Jammu is more than a hundred years old. It was founded in 1846 by Gulab Singh, founder-ruler of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, with a personal grant of half a million rupees, a big amount in those days. The trust is managing about 175 temples and shrines all over the country, most located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. What makes the trust important and distinguishable is the fact that it is presided over by Dr. Karan Singh, an eminent Vedic scholar and politician. |
