NC MPs to meet detained colleague Dr Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar
9/28/2019 10:45:40 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 28: Two of the Members Parliaments from National Conference are likely to meet their party patron and MP Dr Farooq Abdullah presently serving detention under Public Safety Act (PSA) at his residence at Gupkar here.
Sources said that following criticisms from their party cadre, the two MPs, Justice Retired Husnain Masoodi and Mohammed Akbar Lone have decided to approach the administration to seek appointment with the NC patron to decide future course of action.
Sources said that duo would seek one-on-one meeting with the NC patron with the condition that no jail official should present there at that point of time. Sources said that decision to seek the appointment in this regard was taken after a "secret meeting" held by the NC leaders outside Kashmir. Sources aid that duo was actually accused of having been silent over the detention of party leaders.
It was reliably learnt that Masoodi was accused of having failed to come up with even a proper legal battle against the detention of NC leaders whereas Lone was accused of "total sell out". Akbar Lone, Former Speaker of Legislative Assembly, who had been open supporter of Pakistan, was accused of allying with "enemy's party"
"He (Lone) is accused of enjoying warmth of New Delhi when his party is suffering unheard in Kashmir whereas the other one (Masoodi) is often accused of having brought insult to the party through his utterances," said sources.
It was reliably learnt that the duo told the critics that they have nothing to hide and that they had been waiting for the party to decide about the future course of action. Sources told duo have told the party colleagues that they would hold consultations before seeking appointments.
It is pertinently to mention that Dr Abdullah has been under detention for past fifteen days almost since the day the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was abrogated on Aug 5.
The central government recently told the Supreme Court that he has been booked under the PSA, which was actually constituted by the Dr Abdullah's farther, Sheikh Abdullah in 1970'. Despite repeated attempts, Husnain Masoodi and Akbar Lone could not be contacted for comments.
