Inauguration postponed from Sept 10 to 30 along with change of chief guest
Dr KK Birla Park's inauguration at Kathua denied to Birla scion

Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 28: The inauguration of Dr KK Birla Public Park at Kalibari Kathua marred into controversy as the scheduled inauguration on September 10 was postponed to September 30 and chief guest was also changed from Birla's scion to Union Minister.
According to the invitation cards circulated initially by the Sutlej Group the inauguration of Dr KK Birla Public Park at Kalibari Kathua along with unveiling of Dr KK Birla statute was scheduled to be held on September 10.
The Chief Guest of the September 10 event was grandson of Dr. KK Birla, Chander Shekhar Nopani, who was scheduled to unveil the statue of his grandfather at Kalibari Kathua and dedicated the park on the name of Dr. KK Birla to public.
According to sources, on the eleventh hour the inauguration ceremony was postponed and Birla scion was not allowed to inaugurate the park, despite the fact that the park was developed by the Birla group after spending several Crores of rupees on the park.
The Sutlej group was reportedly asked to reprint the invitation cards and according to the new invitation cards, the inauguration of the park has been scheduled to be held on September 30 and Chief Guest on the occasion would be Dr. Jatinder Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) PMO, while Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr. Raghav Langar will also be present there.
Instead of Birla scion, now the Executive President Umesh Gupta and Group President SK Khandelia of Chenab Textile Mills will be present during the rescheduled function of September 30.
"The development of the Dr. KK Birla Park on the land of water-body is also controversial as according to Supreme Court as well as Water Resources Act of Jammu and Kashmir, a water body cannot be converted and its original course should be maintained", sources said, adding that on one hand district administration has been taking action against encroachments of state-land and irrigation lands but same administration has given sanction to conversion of water-body into a park.
Castigating the administration, sources further said that though the park has been established by the company through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative but giving name of a industrialist to the park was enough but installing his statue from the same CSR funds was not justifiable and raising question mark over the rationale of administration to postpone the function.
