Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 28: Believe it or not! A head of one of the Municipal Committees in Jammu district has managed to earn Rs 2 lakh that too by using and misleading the police in a fake medical certificate case.
Sources informed Early Times that the president of the Municipal Committee (MC) first lodged a complaint of forgery with the police and subsequently withdrew it after a deal was struck with the accused and his associate, a prominent businessman of the area. In this way, the president of the Municipal Committee made full use of the police and earned a hefty amount.
"The chief of the Municipal Committee registered a complaint of forgery in police station of his area. His complaint stated that an army personal has made a fake medical certificate with the help of a renowned businessman of the area. The doctor, whose signature and stamp had been used in the medical certificate, was not even aware of this. After receiving the complaint, the police started investigation and summoned the soldier. Later the certificate in question was also seized to probe further into the matter," said sources.
Sources further said that after that the doctor was also called. But in the meantime, a prominent businessman of the area intervened in the matter.
"The businessman first convinced the doctor to ignore whatever has happened and then persuaded the Municipal Committee chief to withdraw the complaint. The businessman who was mediating in the matter was the one who helped the army man to get the fake medical certificate," sources said.
"The businessman wasted no time in settling the case in his own way as soon as the issue hogged limelight. His urgency insured that the matter gets resolved without harming any interests of the accused. Ultimately, the Committee head withdrew his complaint though the police was in the middle of its investigation," sources added.
Sources said that the police wanted to take action in this case and was also working on it. But after Municipal Committee chief's deal and his withdrawal of the complaint, the case ran into rough weather.
"If the police had taken complete action in this case, the businessman would have also been implicated in it because he was the one who made it possible to obtain the fake medical certificate. In such a situation, the businessman considered it necessary to suppress the matter," said sources.
