Srinagar, Oct 28: At least, 20 people were injured when militants lobbed a grenade at the busy market at New Colony Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday. Among 20, the condition of 6 is said to be critical and they have been referred to a hospital in Srinagar. The others are undergoing treatment at a local hospital, officials said. However, Jammu and Kashmir police on Twitter said "Six people sustained injuries in the attack while as many others sustained mild splinter injuries". While as eye-witness, said that at least 20 people were injured of which six including a woman, were shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment. "The condition of six civilian including a woman is stated as critical," they said. As per the sources, the grenade explosion took place at a busy market at New Colony, Sopore in northern Baramulla district. "People were present in the market in large numbers. Street vendors were also busy selling vegetables, fruit and winter stuff. All of a sudden a huge explosion took place," said an eye-witness. "People were seen lying flat on the road with blood oozing from their wounds", he added. Soon after the attack, people took the injured to the Sub District Hospital Sopore. "A woman was hit by multiple splinters and five others too. They were immediately referred to SMHS hospital Srinagar where the condition of a woman was stated as critical," said an eye-witness. Meanwhile, according to the hospital authorities in SDH Sopore, injured have been identified as Asadullah, Zahid Sofi, Ishfaq Ahmed, Mushtaq dar, Muneer ahmed, Bashir Ahmed, Barkat, Raffia, Iram, Sameer Ahmed, Kamran, Farooq Ahmed, Irshad ahmad, Nisar Dar, Sheikh Shafkat, Jabeenam Haigam, Adnan, Shehnawaz, Abdul Khaliq and Ushoor Ahmed. This is the second grenade attack in last three days. On Saturday evening, suspected militants lobbed a grenade at Central Reserve Police Forces Naka Party outside SMHS hospital Srinagar in which six CRPF men sustained injuries. |
