ICDS ruins festivity for 60 thousand Anganwari Workers, Helpers | Salary for 11 months denied' | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 28: Jammu and Kashmir government is patting its back over sanctioning of 7th pay commission benefits to state employees following the state bifurcation into two Union territories but has ruined the festivity of nearly 60 thousand Anganwari workers and helpers for deny 11 month salaries who were engaged under Integrated Child Development Scheme. Atleast 60 thousand Anganwari Workers and Helpers engaged in rural child care of state, themselves are on the verge of starvation, and their wages for last 11 months have not been paid yet. Members of Jammu and Kashmir Anganwari Workers and Helpers' Union (JKAWHU) alleged that due to bureaucratic apathy and important scheme losing its relevance in state, that too under Governor's when state saw a new hope on every sphere. "The condition of the ICDS is very deplorable and the authorities pay no heed towards it, instead because of them the condition of ICDS workers and helpers is getting bad to worse. The Anganwari workers and helpers without for last 11 months facing difficulties to basic necessities of life like food, clothes, school fees and medicines of their children and ailing parents", said AWHU members, adding that despite not dispersal of honorarium to workers and helpers. They are pressurised to perform Poshan Maha, Poshan Pakhwada, and other activities of the department from their own pocket, which is sheer exploitation of their poor workers and helpers. "For management and procurement and meeting expenditure of ICDS, a Committee of CDPO, Supervisor and Corporators have been established. Unfortunately instead of taking care of their mandate these committee putting blame on each other rather than doing their jobs, which further deteriorates the vulnerable Workers and the Helpers", AWHU alleged, adding that the things further become unbearable. "Mission Director ICDS, CDPOs and other officers decline to meet us. If they will not listen us, where we will go", they questioned. "We appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a "surgical strike" on ailing and ill maintained ICDS, so that such chaos could be avoided in future", they added. |
