Centaur Hotel sub -jail hub of Tu Tu Mein Mein!
10/28/2019 10:59:04 PM
Early Times Report
srinagar, Oct 28: Around three dozen politicians under detention at the Centaur Hotel sub-jail on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar here are understood to have been resorting to altercations making the detention center turn into hub of "Tu Tu Mein Mein".
Sources said the detention of the senior leaders from parties including National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Peoples Conference at the sub-jail has been witnessing some awkward moments when these politicians locked horns with each other over one reason or the other.
Sources said each of them was accusing those from other parties for having been "responsible for the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and their subsequent detention."
"Initially PDP leaders were mainly targeted for having brought BJP into Kashmir but PDP leaders shot back saying that NC had brought BJP in when Omar Abdullah was a minister in the Vajpayee regime," said source privy to the altercation.
Sources said in the last two months, several instances of altercations have taken place between leaders from various parties.
Sources said at times senior officials from police pacified the "warring factions."
It is pertinent to mention that since the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, some of the senior politicians in Kashmir have been put under detention.
While NC President Dr Abdullah has been booked under the PSA at his residence, his son Omar has been detained at Hari Niwas whereas PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has been detained at a hut in Cheshmashahi.
Other politicians including Ali Muhammad, Salman Sagar, Tanvir Sadiq, Naeem Akhter, Ashraf Mir, Waheed Parra and Sajad Lone are detained at the Centaur Hotel.
Official said their family members and friends are allowed to meet them at least twice a week.
Despite repeated attempts the politicians who are accused of altercation couldn't be contacted for comments.
