Early Times Report

KUPWARA, Apr 10: At a time when the whole world including India and Pakistan is fighting with the Coronavirus pandemic, the militaries of the two neighboring countries on Friday exchanged heavy artillery shelling along the LoC in Keran and Tangdar sector of this border district.
According to sources from Tangdar area that the shelling has been reported from Panzgam, Malikpora, TCP, Hafrada and Ferkiyan areas and it has created panic among the residents.
At Panzgam, many people have left their homes and were moving towards safer locations while others have confined themselves to safer locations within their homes, said sources.
“War like situation was there, and panic gripped the whole area, there was heavy exchange of fire that erupted at around 1 pm on Friday afternoon, and the exchange of shells was intermittently going on till the last reports came in, said locals of Tangdar.
They told ET that, the shelling was so intense that we were afraid that, we cannot move out of this area now, while as India army also gave befitting reply to their aggression and after that there was lull for few hours,
The sound of motor shells and firing has created fear psychosis among the villagers due to which they left out from their homes and ran for safety behind the mountainous rocks, and some ran down the hills in Keran sector.
There was no immediate report of any damages on this side of Line of Control (LoC), but yes it has created panic like situation among the Gujjar communities in those very particular areas, even the snow has not yet melted in the area.
There was widespread panic in almost five villages close to Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector.
However a senior police official said that, Pakistan on Friday resorted to heavy unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.
Recently a group of five militants were killed in Keran sector, and then after today the military of the other side of LoC violated the ceasefire. Pakistan has been carrying out its nefarious activities even as the entire world is fighting the deadly coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, said Police official.
Meanwhile Srinagar based Defence Spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia told early times that; there was an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Keran sector today.
“Own troops retaliated effectively and strongly, precision targeting of guns areas, militants launch pads and ammunition dump carried out, adding reports of heavy damaged on enemy side, said Rajesh Kalia.
