JAMMU, May 5: RK Kalsotra, State President, All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations J&K sat on a dhara today to highlight the demands of Safaikaramcharis and support the dharna observed by them as well. Dharna was a symbolic one with few member of the Confederation here at Jammu to show their grievances to the administration. Dharna was observed by maintaining social distancing and observing the rules of lockdown. Kalsotra said that the demands of Safaikaramcharis are genuine. He appealed to the LG-UT J&K for considering the demands and find immediate solutions with respectful negotiations and stakeholder involvement so that their grievances are met. Confederation had mailed the LG highlighting the demands of Safaikaramcharis and called for strike by workers today, but no heed was paid to those demands, thus, Confederation had to support the cause of Safaikaramcharis and hold a dharna alongside Safaikaramcharis. Safaikaramcharis are raising issues for the better standard of living and they are not getting any attention from the government regarding their grievances which include, reinstating some of their employees who were absent due to lockdown, approximately 139 promoted Safaikaramcharis have not gotten their 9 months’ salary, each employee to be covered with 50 lakh insurance, arrears of their regularized employees of 2005, 2008 and 2010, filling of atleast 600 post of backlog and supplying of mask, proper clothes and sanitizers, PPE kits to them.
