Amid COVID-19 Pak terror factories continue to operate | Violence graph spikes in JK as Govt fights two-front-war | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 5: Once again it has been established beyond doubt that Pakistan’s terror factories continue to operate despite the Covid-19 pandemic and people battling hard to prevent its dreadful spread across Jammu and Kashmir. Five security personnel and two militants were killed over the weekend in a fierce encounter in Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Among the soldiers who sacrificed their lives was Col Ashutosh Sharma, a decorated commanding officer of a Rashtriya Rifles battalion, while the slain militants included a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander named Haider. Reportedly, the two militants were part of a larger group of seven terrorists who had tried to infiltrate the LoC in early April. Five of them were killed back then, but Haider and his partner managed to escape and this time took civilian hostages at Chanjimulla in Handwara, leading to the encounter. “This is unnatural that when the entire human race is battling hard to survive, Pakistan is exporting terror and making peoples’ lives miserable. How come this be called even humanity that gun battles take place with people losing lives when the world is battling Coronavirus. Nowhere has there been the example of such hostility,” said a scribe based in Srinagar. Army chief MM Naravane stated that Pakistan’s strategy of pushing militants across the border continues unabated. It’s likely that Pakistan is actually trying to take advantage of the Covid-19 outbreak and hit India with terror strikes when the latter is trying to control the epidemic. Plus, the nullification of the special status of Jammu & Kashmir by New Delhi last year didn’t lead to the kind of unrest that Islamabad had expected. All of this shows Pakistan won’t give up on terror no matter how difficult things become. In such a scenario, reports suggest that India needs to maintain vigil and strike back against any Pakistani terror designs. Meanwhile, the people on the ground apart from fighting the intense battle against Corona are perturbed due to the sudden spike in militancy-related incidents in Kashmir valley with encounters, grenade attacks and other incidents of violence becoming part of daily life. |
