PCC chief writes to CS, seeks details of labourers intending to travel | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 5: Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president G A Mir today wrote to the Chief Secretary (CS) of Jammu & Kashmir asking him to provide information of those stranded labourers intending to travel to their native places. Mir in his letter to CS, BVR Subramanayam urged him to direct the concerned department/authority dealing with the issue of stranded labourers intending to return to their native places/states to share their details with the Congress party in order to facilitate there transportation charges in view of the directions of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi to the respective PCC presidents. PCC chief also announced the help line numbers for the stranded labourers to directly contact them with regard to their details of respective locations and native places with their travel plans for facilitating their travel back. As per a party handout, the PCC chief wrote to the CS requesting him to direct the concerned department to share the details of such stranded labourers, with in J&K belonging to different states and the details of J&K labourers stranded in other states, who are intending to return to Jammu and Kashmir. He said based in the details provided by the govt, the PCC shall make arrangements for their transportation charges, as per directions of the congress president. Congress President Sonia Gandhi had taken initiative to arrange for transportation charges by respective PCCs, as the Indian railways and the govt had shown indifferent attitude towards the distressed class.
