Authorities cancel movement passes in Srinagar, introduce tokens with 3-D hologram | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 5 : Authorities on Tuesday cancelled all movement passes in this summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir and introduced tokens with 3-D hologram to prevent the use of fake, forged and scanned passes by some people to move within the district. The development comes after numerous instances of misuse and fraudulent imitation were reported in Srinagar. An order issued by District Magistrate of Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Tuesday said that all movement passes issued by or before May 5 shall stand cancelled. ''During various inspections conducted by the Magistrates and reports received from the District Police, large scale misuse of passes has surfaced, including fake, forged, scanned copies and use beyond the notified jurisdiction. Instances of scanned e-passes have also been noticed,'' it added. It said that these violations have been viewed as a serious threat to the containment measures put in place across the district, particularly in Red Zones. ''It has also been reliably learnt that officials/non officials from various notified Red Zones of other districts also frequently move into the district without a valid inter-district pass required, as per the norms notified by the government,'' the order read. The order said that all the essential service departments, government offices so authorised, banks, mediapersons, other departments shall be provided specially designed tokens, indicating name of the organisation and serial number. It said the movement passes will be valid only with the seal and signature of District Magistrate and shall compulsorily have a 3-D hologram affixed on top. ''In the absence of original signature and 3-D hologram, the pass will be invalid. Passes issued by any authority other than the District Magistrate shall not be entertained,'' it added. The order further said that persons requiring inter-district movement shall be allowed to move only on production of inter-district movement pass issued by the competent authority, clearly indicating the place or origin and destination. ''Any person moving out of Red Zone without such explicit permission shall be booked under the law,'' it added. It said that a total of 86 buses have been provided to banks and departments to minimise the vehicular traffic on road and any likely misuse of passes. ''All cases of medical emergencies shall be allowed to move without passes,'' it added.
