Panun Kashmir slams Haseeb Drabu for demeaning Kashmiri Pandits | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 5: Panun Kashmir, an organization of Kashmiri Pandits led by its President Vijay Bhat, has slammed Haseeb Drabu former finance minister, for demeaning and calling Kashmiri Pandits as “Pariah”. In a press release issued today Ravinder Jalali, Convenor of party said the statement of Drabu is ill conceived and malicious. The statement of Drabu is out of sheer ignorance and with ulterior motive. He is aiming his gun at the Government from the shoulders of KPs. He is advised to go through the history and see the contribution of KPs towards the rich culture, heritage and traditions of not only Kashmir but for the entire country. It is the Kashmiri Pandit who represents the kashmiriyat which you wish not to recognise and presently has been destroyed by the vested interests. Those who talk of Kashmiriyat are not aware of Kashmiriyat like you because there cannot be Kashmiriyat without kashmiri Pandits. Ravinder Jalali said that Haseeb Drabu`s contention that with the introduction of Urdu, as a state language, KPs were hit hard because till then they were knowing Persian only, is wrong. If he remembers that up till now Kashmiri Pandits had through knowledge of Urdu as well because they are the students of learning, and it has no barriers to any language or more languages are boon and not a demerit. Language is no barrier for KPs unlike the people like you who choose the language on the basis of faith and religion which indicates exclusiveness of the society whereas we talk of inclusiveness and that is Kashmiryat in true nature. Even until now, people would see KPs working in courts/petition writers etc. The new domicile law does not make Kashmiri Pandits as Pariah as seen by him. It is totally incorrect and is a result of poor imagination. Present definition of domicile is applicable only to jobs in the UT of J&K and has no other purpose. You should know that the non-Muslim rule lasted for only about hundred years and prior to that it was a Muslim rule and how come your co-religionists did not pick up any language, speaks volume of preferences you gave to your religious teaching, said Vijay Bhat. |
