NPP protests outside DSEJ alleging massive irregularities in Education Department | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 11: Peeved over alleged malpractices in School Education Department, the activists of JKNPP led by their chairman Harsh Dev Singh held a protest demonstration here today outside the office of Director School Education. The protestors carrying placards in their hands held a silent protest seeking the review of all transfers made in violation of norms besides cancellation of all attachments of teaching staff made in various offices across Jammu region. The protestors called for a statement from the Advisor as well as the Secretary Education over the pathetic scenario in Education sector which suffered immense damage due to rampant corruption. They called upon the Director to explain the reasons for large scale attachments in DSEJ including these of teaching and non-teaching staff with all the attached employees being paid HRA despite their substantive postings being outside the limits of Municipal Corporation Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev Singh said that thousands of attachments of teaching staff had been made in the past to confer undue benefits upon favourities and other blue eyed teachers at the cost of academic activity in various government schools. He added that during his tenure as Education Minister he did not allow even a single attachment which had received widespread appreciation from all over the State. He said that corruption in education sector was unacceptable and would be fought against tooth and nail. Singh said that there were several issues which had failed to elicit appropriate response from authorities concerned thus forcing the NPP to hold a protest outside the office of Director School Education. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Gagan Partap Singh, Kulbushan Attri, Partap Singh besides others.
