SRINAGAR, June 11: After witnessing a spike in the Corona Virus cases over the past one week or so sanity seems to have returned to Jammu & Kashmir as 67 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today. In the meantime, one more person died due to the virus in the Kashmir valley. As a result of the today’s death the death toll due to COVID-19 in the union territory reached 52. While 47 deaths have taken place in Kashmir five Corona Virus patients have died in the Jammu division. In the meantime, 149 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals in Kashmir and Jammu divisions. Reports said that Anantnag reported 13 fresh cases followed by Jammu 11 cases, Pulwama nine cases, Srinagar eight cases, Poonch six cases, Bandipora four cases, Budgam, Udhampur and Doda three cases each, Kulgam and Baramulla two cases each, Kupwara, Ganderbal and Rajouri one case each. The Jammu & Kashmir government today informed that 67 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 24 from Jammu division and 43 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 4574. Also, one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 149 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 30 from Jammu division and 119 from Kashmir division. Out of 4574 positive cases, 2702 are active positive, 1820 have recovered and 52 have died; five in Jammu division and 47 in Kashmir division. It said that out of 2, 47,267 test results available, 2, 42,693 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 2, 27,016 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 41,312 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 25 in hospital quarantine, 2,702 in hospital isolation and 55,395 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 27,530 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Kulgam has 568 positive cases, 392 active positive, 168 recoveries, eight deaths, Baramulla has 497 positive cases, 325 active positive, 162 recovered, 10 deaths; Srinagar has 497 positive cases, 334 active positive, 151 recovered, 12 deaths; Anantnag district has 482 positive cases, 162 active positive, 315 recovered, five deaths; Shopian has 440 positive cases, 265 active positive, 171 recovered, four deaths. “Kupwara has 376 positive cases, 127 active positive, 246 recovered, three deaths; Bandipora has 233 positive cases, 67 active positive, 165 recovered, one death; Budgam has 214 positive cases, 132 active positive, 80 recovered, two deaths; Pulwama reported 199 positive cases, 165 active positive, 32 recovered, two deaths and Ganderbal has 59 positive cases, 27 active positive, 32 recoveries,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 253 positive cases, 143 active positive, 107 recoveries, three deaths; Ramban has 172 positive cases, 149 active positive, 23 recoveries; Udhampur has 153 positive cases, 117 active positive, 35 recovered, one death; Kathua has 123 positive cases, 74 active positive, 49 recovered; Poonch has 91 positive cases, 63 active positive, 28 recoveries. “Samba has 69 positive cases, 41 active positive, 28 recoveries; Rajouri has 58 positive cases, 46 active positive, 12 recovered; Doda has 46 positive cases, 43 active positive, two recoveries, one death; Reasi has 23 positive cases, 13 active positive, 10 recovered and Kishtwar has 21 positive cases, 17 active positive, four recovered,” reads the bulletin. It said that of 4,574 positive cases 1,631 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
