Legislation on violence against healthcare professionals | DB grants last opportunity to file response | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 11: Division Bench of J&K High Court Jammu wing comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rajnesh Oswal while hearing a Public Interest Litigation in which Division Bench raised a query regarding addressing issues of safety, care, health and violence against healthcare professionals and clinical establishments-need for a legislative framework observed that Vishal Sharma ASGI submitted that despite intimation, he has not received any response from the concerned Ministry. DB grants last opportunity to file his response in terms of our previous orders failing which we will be compelled to take strict view in the matter. DB further observed that a joint report dated 10th June 2020 has been filed by TM Shamshi, ASGI, Srinagar on Issue Nos. III & VII, on behalf of Government of Union Territory of Ladakh. DB observed that this Court find that all that is mentioned regarding the issue under consideration is that there has been no instance of violence against healthcare professionals or property but in our present consideration, we have not asked for this report but were concerned with the need for legislation on the subject and directed TM Shamshi, ASGI file a report on the issue which isunder consideration. In another application regarding death of nine horses in Katra from starvation, Division Bench directed Deputy Commissioner Reasi to file action taken report before us before the next date and also directed the Deputy Commissioner, Reasi shall ensure that steps are immediately taken for feeding of hungry horses and animals in the District. DB also grants time to AAG Aseem Sawhney to give his report on the issue of ensuring scheduled timings for veterinary clinics. JNF
