DB seeks time frame for restoration of Mubarak Mandi Complex | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 4: A Division Bench of J&K High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Rajnesh Oswal directed Govt to give time frame within which it would be completed and the estimated cost of the complete work of Mubarak Mandi Royal Dogra Palace. This significant order has been passed in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Th. Chatter Singh in respect of Mubarak Mandi Royal Dogra Palace Jammu which is a historical and a heritage monument. The petitioner in his litigation sought aforesaid monument to be restored and that the record available therein be digitised. While hearing PIL, Division Bench observed that Government has probably released about 84 crores of rupees for the restoration of the monument and the digitisation purposes. Thereafter there appears to be a very slow progress in the matter. In these circumstances as discussed with AAG FA Natnoo, appearing for respondents 1, 3 and 4, DB observed that this Court require that all the respondents should work in consonance with each other and bring out a clear roadmap as to the preservation and restoration of all the monuments of the Mubarak Mandi Royal Dogra Palace at Jammu and for the digitisation of its record clearly indicating who would carry out the said work, timeframe within which it would be DB further directed that the above report on affidavit shall be filed by Vishal Sharma, ASGI after coordinating with the other three respondents within a period of one month. —JNF |
