JEHANGIR RASHID EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Feb 4: The positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 24,719 as 60 cases of the virus came to the fore today. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,943 with two deaths being reported from Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours or so. Srinagar district reported 22 new cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district eight cases, Reasi district seven cases, Anantnag district five cases, Pulwama and Ganderbal districts four cases each, Baramulla and Budgam districts three cases each, Ramban district two cases and Kulgam & Poonch districts one case each. No case was reported from Kupwara, Shopian, Bandipora, Udhampur, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba and Kishtwar districts. Kupwara and Shopian districts in the Kashmir valley reported a fresh virus related death each. So far 1,221 people have fallen prey to the virus in the Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 722 people have died due to the virus up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 60 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 18 from Jammu division and 42 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 24,719. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 75 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 13 from Jammu division and 62 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 24,719 positive cases, 652 are active positive, 1, 22,124 have recovered and 1,943 have died; 722 in Jammu division and 1,221 in Kashmir division. Out of 46, 21,705 test results available, 44, 96,986 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 11, 48,890 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,155 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 652 in isolation and 1, 01,114 in home surveillance. Besides, 10, 11,026 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,284 positive cases, 204 active positive, 25,622 recovered, 458 deaths; Baramulla has 8,127 positive cases, 43 active positive, 7,910 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,780 positive cases, 31 active positive, 7,631 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 5,735 positive cases, 45 active positive, 5,602 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,663 positive cases, 23 active positive, 5,544 recovered, 96 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,918 positive cases, 50 active positive, 4,782 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,695 positive cases, 18 active positive, 4,616 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,639 positive cases, 62 active positive, 4,531 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 2,698 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,620 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,573 positive cases, 23 active positive, 2,508 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,996 positive cases, 48 active positive, 24,577 recovered, 371 deaths; Udhampur has 4,210 positive cases, 25 active positive, 4,128, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,868 positive cases, one active positive, 3,812 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,432 positive cases, four active positive, 3,364 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,254 positive cases, two active positive, 3,199 recovered, 53 deaths. "Samba has 2,832 positive cases, 11 active positive, 2,781 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,732 positive cases, one active positive, 2,709 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,503 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,454 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, four active positive, 2,110 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,645 positive cases, eight active positive, 1,622 recovered, 15 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 24,719 positive cases in J&K, 11,733 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
