Jammu, Feb 4: After getting cold-shoulder response from constituents of Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has started luring Independents to capture some DDCs in Kashmir Valley.
Interestingly National Conference leadership has also assigned the job to some senior leaders to rope in Independents to spoil PDP’s game-plan to capture DDCs.
Not only constituents of PAGD, even Congress party-the arch rival of BJP, is also hesitating to support PDP candidates on some DDCs of Kashmir Valley.

District Panchayat Election Officer, Anantnag, on Thursday notified recounting of votes for the Larnoo seat of Anantnag district.
According to an order issued by Anshui Garg, the DPEO, the recounting of the votes for 08-Larnoo DDC Constituency shall be taken on February 5. The recounting of votes following directions on February 2 by Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, the Appellate Authority, before whom Sajida Begum, the nearest rival, had preferred an appeal as per the law.
PDP candidate Khahda Bibi had won the election by a margin of seven votes against her nearest rival Sajida Begum, Independent candidate.
Sources further revealed that PDP leadership was surprised over the cold-shoulder response of NC leadership in capturing DDCs. “Instead of fighting jointly to capture DDCs, NC leadership is more particular about establishing its own chairpersons in many districts”, sources said and added that NC has also opened a channel of communications with Independents to keep a check on PDP’s strategy. |
