| GCW Bhagwati Nagar organises lecture on World Cancer Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 4: Red Ribbon club of GCW Bhagwati Nagar, today organized a lecture by Dr. Sandeep Kour, Assistant Professor, Department of Radio therapy GMC, Jammu, to mark the World Cancer Day. The theme for this year is “I am and I will” which is being continued since 2019 and one of the mottos of the theme is “together, all our actions matter”. Dr. Sandeep Kour talked about the significance of the day, aimed at ending the stigma, myths related to the disease. She urged upon the students to maintain a healthy life style and be aware of the signals being received from one’s own body. She addressed the queries from the students and faculty members. The Students participated whole heartedly. The lecture aimed at addressing in detail the types of cancer prevalent among women, to make the girl students aware of the precautions and cure. The students were also informed about the cervical cancer vaccine. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college Professor Minnie Sharma said that there is immense need to be aware about cancer and its symptoms. She said that this year is a reminder of the enduring power of cooperation and collective actions which can curb the disease. The proceedings of the program were undertaken by professor Nisha Bhagat and vote of thanks was presented by Dr.Pavanjeet Bali. |
