JAMMU, Feb 4: World Cancer Day was celebrated at Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing (RGCN), Jammu with an aim to mobilize urgent action from individuals, government, and the global cancer community to close and clear unacceptable gaps in cancer risk awareness between higher and lower socio-economic groups and the subsequent impact on their health-promoting behaviors. M S Katoch (Chairman RGCN), Abhimanyu Katoch (MD, RGCN), Anjana Bavouria (CEO, RGCN) and Rafiqa Bashir (Principal RGCN) were among those present on this occasion along with faculty and students of RGCN. To mark the importance of this day, a grand celebration was held on this year’s theme ‘I Am and I Will’, which is continuing since 2019. The students of RGCN presented a captivating bonanza of items which included Poster making competition, Quiz, Powerpoint presentations and speeches focusing on spreading awareness for Cancer Day. Speaking on the this occasion M S Katoch (Chairman RGCN) said that with the pandemic affecting the world, cancer-affected people have had a harder time dealing with their ailment and praised the medical workers like nurses, doctors, as well as researchers, volunteers and other caregivers who are and have been helping in saving lives all around the world. Abhimanyu Katoch (MD RGCN) also voiced praises for all the agencies who have been working since past one year in COVID-19 pandemic dedicatedly. Among others who spoke included Prof Suman Vashist, Prof Abhinash, Prof.Mohini Koushal, Prof Ankita Sharma, Prof Ragini Sharma and Prof Babita. Vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sivasankari. |
