Kishtwar DDC elections rescheduled for February 18

Jammu, Feb 14: After forceful deferment of elections to the post of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson for District Kishtwar due to lack of quorum, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma issued fresh dates for holding the elections.
As per the details available with Early Times, DC Kishtwar who is Presiding Officer/Prescribed Authority to hold the elections vide No. DDEO/K/2020-21/7331-44 Dated 13-2-2021 issued “Notice for Election” for 18-2-2021.
“Consequent upon the deferment of the meeting scheduled at 11.30 am on 13-2-2021 for election to Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of District Development Council Kishtwar due to lack of prescribed quorum and in accordance with Sub rule (6) of rule 108-ZN of Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Rules 1996. I Ashok Kumar Sharma, KAS Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar do hereby give notice that a meeting of District Development Council Kishtwar shall be held on 18-2-2021 at 12.30 PM at the meeting hall of DC Kishtwar to elect Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of DDC under section 45-B of the Act” read the notice issued by DC Kishtwar to all the 14 elected DDC members.
The notice further warn action against elected DDC members who fail to attend the meeting for the 2nd time in row.
It is pertinent to mention that three BJP DDC members along with NC rebel Shareefa Begum, now joined Apni Party and Independent member from Marwah Sheikh Zafrullah skips the meeting as a result of which the election was deferred for the want of quorum.
The NC and Congress accuses the BJP and Apni Party for hatching conspiracy to derail the election process to get more time to felicitate the horse trading.
