Azad to announce his future plan after visiting J&K
2/14/2021 11:30:42 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 14: Amid conflicting reports about his future, veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will interact with his supporters from J&K to announce the next course of action.
Reliable sources told The Early Times said that after his formal retirement as member of the Rajya Sabha on February 15, Azad will start interaction with his supporters in different parts of the country in general and J&K in particular.
“Very soon Azad will visit different areas of J&K to hold interactions with his loyalists”, sources said and added that veteran Congress leader is not in a hurry to announce his future action. “Azad has already sounded his loyalists about his next tour in all regions and sub-regions of J&K”, sources said, adding, “During his tour Azad would seek feedback from his supporters before taking any decision”. “First of all Azad will wait for the announcement of party candidates for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat and Kerala. It is only after announcement of Congress candidates for these two states Azad will announce his future course of action”, sources said and added that he (Azad) is still hoping that party will re-nominate him in the Upper House of the Parliament on the seat which fell vacant after death of Congress stalwart Ahmad Patel.
As reported earlier by The Early Times, Azad will try his best to get re-elected from Gujarat where by-elections for two Rajya Sabha seats will be held on March 1.
One Rajya seat in Gujarat fell vacant following the death of Congress stalwart Ahmed Patel on November 25, 2020. His term was up to August 18, 2023.
Being a Muslim face of the party Azad will stake his claim on the seat which fell vacant following death of Ahmed Patel.
