Pakistan likely to continue on FATF’s ‘grey list’ | Arrests of terrorists; recovery of weapons, IED enough to expose neighbour | | AVINASH AZAD

JAMMU, Feb 14: Alert Jammu and Kashmir Police have apparently snatched away an opportunity for Pakistan to come out from the ‘grey list’, as its attempts of encouraging blood bath in J&K, as well as other parts of the country exposed yet before the deadline given by an international watchdog. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) had placed Pakistan on the grey list in June 2018 and asked Islamabad to implement a plan of action to curb money laundering and terror financing by the end of February 2021. FATF an international watchdog develops policies to combat money laundering and since 2001, its mandate was expanded to include terrorism financing, and fortunately Pakistan has been on the FATF’s grey list since June 2018. “I feel proud to be part of a strong JKP force. No doubt, India Army and the other Paramilitary Forces, are holding equal responsibility of making J&K a terrorism free state, but the JKP since 1st January to till date have done huge damage to Pakistan and have also exposed backstabber neighbour time and again”, said Police Officer. The officer further said that today's success of JKP was a big one. “Our men prevented Pulwama like attack, we were on high alert for some days as the second anniversary of the deadly Pulwama attack of 2019 was offing, in which we lost 42 CRPF personnel”. “Yesterday, we recovered 15 small IEDs and 6 pistols from Samba. Last week we have arrested two terrorists of Lashkar-e-Mustafa and The Resistance Front from Kunjwani and Bari Brahmana area”, the officer said. “Today we arrested one Al Badr associate Suhail Bashir Shah resident of Newa Pulwama with IED weighing around 7 Kgs, averting a major tragedy on the eve of Pulwama attack anniversary. On his disclosure, another associate Ather Shakeel Khan, who is also resident of Newa, Pulwama, Abid Nabi resident of Budgam arrested from Srinagar, while Qazi Wasim was apprehended at Chandigarh '', they said. |
