Jammu, Feb 14: In a sheer violation of Jammu and Kashmir Heritage Conservation and Preservation Act, 2010, the executing agencies hired for its restoration and renovation were allegedly spotted damaging the roof structure of the Raja Ram Singh Queens’ Palace of famous Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex in the name of restoration. A video in this connection has been received by the Early Times, wherein the workers of executing agencies were clearly seen using hammers on the rooftop of the Raja Ram Singh Queens’ Palace, which is a part of Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex and the sound of using hammer was quite audible to the residents living nearby, which attracted them and captured the incident from their mobile. “The rooftop was covered with green cloth and labourers were using a hammer in order to break the structure, which is totally illegal. As per guidelines, hammer can’t be used on any structure, which is declared as heritage site and during any restoration and renovation process only small stone chisel is allowed to use but here in contrary of the guidelines, the agency resorting to use prohibited method to break the structure,” said a resident, who captured the incident from his mobile. He alleged that in the name of restoration, all guidelines are being violated and bypassed in order to give pace to the work. He said that they were shocked to see violation being committed by the executing agency. Despite repeated attempts, the Executive Director, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society could not be contacted. |
