At present, eleven Hydro Electric Projects/ Power Stations (above 25 MW) totalling to 3360 MW are established and functional in Jammu and Kashmir. The construction of five more power projects which will add more than 1700MWs of power to the state generated hydro electricity is likely to revolutionise the overall power distribution scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. “It will be a big boost to Jammu and Kashmir’s power sector and will make the union territory self reliant in more ways than one. The planning and execution is precisely being done keeping in view the prevalent demand of power in the erstwhile state.
