KVK Reasi organizes awareness programme on balanced use of fertilizers

JAMMU, June 19: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized awareness programme on “Balanced use of fertilizers” through virtual mode which was attended by a number of farmers/farmer women/ rural youths of Reasi district. The programme was organised under the guidance of Prof JP Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J. Prof SK Gupta, Director Extension of SKUAST-J was the chief guest on the occasion. In his keynote address, Prof Gupta stressed on soil health management and said that a healthy soil can produce a healthy crop.
Dr Vikas Sharma, Prof & HOD, Division of Soil Science, SKUAST-J elaborated the importance of soil health and guided farmers on soil testing. He also guided farmers on eco-friendly technologies and certification procedures required for organic farming.
Dr Banarsi Lal, Sr Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi formally welcomed the participants and briefed the objective of the programme. He spoke on the fertilizers use efficiency and suggested the recommended doses of manures and fertilizers in different crops for maintaining the soil fertility.
Dr Tasneem Mubarak, Sr Scientist and Head of KVK, Kulgam guided farmers on management of soil health and advocated the balanced use of manures and fertilizers for more returns.
Dr SK Singh, Assoc. Prof., OFRC, SKUAST-J guided farmers’ on the application of biofertilizers and the formulation of various bio-agents used in organic farming. Dr Vivek Mohan Arya, Asstt Prof, Division of Soil Science, emphasized on soil testing and guided farmers on the technique of soil sampling. Rajesh Verma, Distt Agriculture Officer & Nodal Officer Fertilizers, Deptt of Agriculture, Reasi spoke at length on the soil health card scheme and guided farmers about the various agricultural schemes ongoing in the district. Dr Sanjay Kaushal, Scientist spoke on Integrated Nutrient Management and guided farmers on soil analysis. He stressed on vermicomposting technology and other organic formulations. The programme was also attended by Adarsh Gupta, DDM, NABARD, Reasi, Dr Lalit Upadhyay, Dr Suja Nabi Qureshi, Dr Arvinder Kumar, Dr Lobzang Stanzen, Jagdish Kumar, Manohar Lal, Preeti Chaudhary, Baby Rani and others.
