COVID-19: JK reports 521 new cases, 4 deaths

SRINAGAR, June 19: Jammu & Kashmir reported 521 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 3, 11,209; with four deaths being reported in past 24 hours the death toll due to the virus reached 4,238.
Srinagar district reported 117 new cases followed by Anantnag district 49, Budgam district 44, Doda district 39, Pulwama district 33, Jammu district 26, Kupwara district 24, Bandipora and Poonch districts 22 each, Baramulla district 20, Udhampur district 19, Kulgam district 18, Rajouri district 17, Ganderbal and Kathua districts 16 each, Samba district 14, Kishtwar district 12, Ramban and Reasi district five each and Shopian district three cases.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 521 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 175 from Jammu division and 346 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 3, 11,209. Also, four COVID-19 deaths have been reported, two each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Moreover, 1,197 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 359 from Jammu division and 838 from Kashmir division. Two new confirmed cases of mucormycosis have been reported today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 24. Besides this, 78.63 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu & Kashmir.
Out of 3, 11,209 positive cases, 9,414 are active positive, 2, 97,557 have recovered and 4,238 have died; 2,064 in Jammu division and 2,174 in Kashmir division. Out of 94, 51,574 test results available, 91, 40,365 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 23, 03,895 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 40,943 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 9,414 in isolation and 1, 84,164 in home surveillance. Besides, 20, 65,136 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 69,012 positive cases, 1,514 active positive, 66,682 recovered, 816 deaths; Baramulla has 22,973 positive cases, 749 active positive, 21,948 recovered, 276 deaths; Budgam has 22,226 positive cases, 744 active positive, 21,282 recovered, 200 deaths; Anantnag has 15,766 positive cases, 519 active positive, 15,052 recovered, 195 deaths; Pulwama has 14,657 positive cases, 946 active positive, 13,525 recovered, 186 deaths.
“Kupwara has 13,526 positive cases, 616 active positive, 12,752 recovered, 158 deaths; Kulgam has 10,838 positive cases, 354 active positive, 10,373 recovered, 111 deaths; Ganderbal has 9,397 positive cases, 240 active positive, 9,081 recovered, 76 deaths; Bandipora has 9,130 positive cases, 307 active positive, 8,725 recovered, 98 deaths and Shopian has 5,529 positive cases, 68 active positive, 5,403 recovered, 58 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 52,213 positive cases, 1,008 active positive, 50,085 recovered, 1120 deaths; Udhampur has 11,072 positive cases, 149 active positive, 10,792 recovered, 131 deaths; Rajouri has 10,542 positive cases, 287 active positive, 10,042 recovered, 213 deaths; Kathua has 9,149 positive cases, 106 active positive, 8,894 recovered, 149 deaths; Samba has 7,036 positive cases, 136 active positive, 6,782 recovered, 118 deaths.
“Doda has 6,593 positive cases, 759 active positive, 5,730 recovered, 104 deaths; Poonch has 5,948 positive cases, 396 active positive, 5,465 recovered, 87 deaths; Ramban has 5,719 positive cases, 270 active positive, 5,389 recovered, 60 deaths; Reasi has 5,562 positive cases, 106 active positive, 5,414 recovered, 42 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,321 positive cases, 140 active positive, 4,141 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 3, 11,209 positive cases in J&K, 21,934 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
