Influential man cheats female cop
Police fail to help their own colleague, accused not arrested yet

Early Times Report

Poonch, June 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police have failed to help to its own female cop, who has lodged FIR against a person for committing rape with her on the pretext of false marriage promise.
The concerned police station has not taken any move to arrest the accused till date for the further investigation. It has been alleged that the accused is being backed by a former minister, who has been delaying arrest.
The victim, who is head constable, said that she was in a relationship with a man, who works in a bank and decided to get married but due to pressure from his parents, he denied to tie a nuptial knot.
She alleged that she was betrayed in a relationship by the man, who had promised to get married but now he has gone missing.
“I filed a complaint in the Police Station in this matter in the rural area, but the concerned officer refused to lodge FIR and later court issued an order to lodge FIR but two months have passed and no arrest has been made,” she said.
“It is very shocking that a female cop is being harassed by her own department. She is asked to visit the police station along with family members again and again. This is the plight of a cop. One can imagine the fate of a common man,” said a local resident.
When concerned SHO was contacted he said that the accused is absconding and has left the JK UT. “Police are working on it,” he added.
