VP of PDP released after centre’s invitation for talks to Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 19: Close on the heels of centre’s invitation to former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for talks on June 24 at New Delhi, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) on Saturday released Vice president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mohammad Sartaj Madani. Madani who was arrested immediately after centre abrogated Article 370 and 35 A besides divided the state into two Union Territories (UTs) is maternal uncle of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti. However, there was no relief for president of the youth PDP Waheed Ur Rehman who has been shifted to Kotbalwal jail in connection with terror funding. Former Deputy Speaker of erstwhile J&K Legislative Assembly was detaine under Section 107 and 151 of CrPC. However, Madani was released only to be re-arrested in December last year alongwith another senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar. Akkhtar was released but put under house arrest. Mehbooba has received a telephonic invitation for talks on June 24 at New Delhi. However, PDP PAC is meeting tomorrow to discuss the invitation. |
