6/19/2021 11:52:13 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, June 19: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Political Affairs Committee (PAC) is meeting on Sunday to discuss the telephonic invitation to party president Mehbooba Mufti by the centre for talks in New Delhi.
However, other political parties have so far not received any such invitation for talks with the centre.
CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said that no invitation has so far been received by his party.
The Chief spokesperson and media advisor to PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba, Syed Suhail Bukhari said the Party has not received any formal invitation for talks from the centre. However, he said, Mehbooba was informed about the meeting telephonically by the centre. He said PAC of the party under the chairpersonship of party president Mehbooba will meet tomorrow to discuss the invitation and proposed meeting with New Delhi.
The PAC will take the decision, he said, adding other matters with regard to proposed meeting will also be deliberated.
Mehbooba, the last CM of erstwhile state of J&K said that invitation to regional political parties from the centre for talks will be discussed during the PAC meeting. She headed a coalition government with Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2016 to 2018 when the saffron party withdraw from the alliance.
Official sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to chair the meeting on June 24 at New Delhi to discuss political process which has come to a halt after centre abrogated Article 370 and 35 A besides divided the Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs) on August 5, 2019. Besides Mehbooba, two other former CMs Dr Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah, hundreds of political and religious and trade unionists and separatists were arrested.
Though no formal agenda of the meeting was made public so far by the centre, the meeting is likely, the political parties are likely to raise the issue of abrogation of special status of the J&K, restoration of statehood and bifurcation of the J&K into two UTs. The meeting on June 24 is likely to attend among others by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
PDP is a part of 'Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration', an alliance of about half a dozen political parties—National Conference (NC), PDP, CPI(M), Awami Action Committee (AAC) and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement. Dr Farooq Abdullah is chairperson while Mehbooba is vice chairperson.
The PAGD has time and again reiterated the demand of restoration of pre August 4, 2019 position in the J&K.
