Udhampur Police working overtime to make town COVID free | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Jan 22: While most people prefer to remain indoors amidst the third wave of deadly COVID-19 pandemic, at almost every place in the town cops are seen instructing public to wear mask and maintain social distancing and they even fine the habitual violators. Braving the deadly pandemic, the cops are leaving no stone unturned at their end to stop violations of COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) among the public while the District Police head has strictly warned his men of punitive action if any of the cops is found flouting the set guidelines of pandemic. "As charity begins from home, I have asked all police personnel in the district to strictly adhere to the COVID guidelines and be a role model for other government employees and also the public by following the instructions at home first," Dr. Vinod Kumar, SSP Udhampur told Early Times in an exclusive interaction. "We daily fine violators for not wearing face masks, for not maintaining social distancing at public places or for violating other norms of CAB," he said adding that about 650 violators are being fined daily for such violations. The district police chief said that they are continuously making the public aware on CAB through loud speakers fitted in Police Control Room (PCR) vans.
