Babus show exit door to youth handpicked by PM Modi as SMC brand ambassador | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 22: A youth, Bilal Ahmed, who was selected by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, as the brand ambassador for Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has been without salary for the past four months. Bilal Ahmed was appreciated by Prime Minister Modi for cleaning the Wular Lake in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District and was nominated by him as the brand ambassador for the SMC. “I learned to clean Wular Lake from my father. After he passed away I donned his mantle. My efforts were appreciated by PM Modi and I was given a job in the SMC.” Bilal said that his photos were put everywhere and he was projected as a hero. “After four years, SMC is telling me that there is no post of brand ambassador and my salary cannot be paid as I don’t fit in any of the categories,” he added. Bilal said that for the past four months he has been begging before the officials to release his salary but no one is listening to him. “It seems I have been thrown out of the job and the officials are not even implementing the directions of the Prime Minister. I have knocked every door and am trying to ask the SMC officials what's my status. But I have not got any satisfactory answer,” he added. Bilal threatened to end his life if the officials fail to absorb him in the SMC. “I was handpicked by PM Modi but see what kind of treatment I am facing,” he added. |
