Udhampur, Mar 9: Political parties on Wednesday condemned the blast that took place in Udhampur town of today killing one person and injuring 15 others.
The blast took place around 12:45 pm at Salathia Chowk near district court complex Udhampur.
“Unequivocally condemn the Udhampur attack in which one person lost his life and several others were injured,” Balwant Singh Mankotia, former MLA Udhampur said adding: “May the deceased rest in peace and we prayed Almighty for speedy recovery to the injured.”
Many politicians and others also condemned the blast and appealed to the people to maintain communal brotherhood.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the month of May in year 2011 similar blast took place at Birma Bridge near Udhampur killing a milkman and injuring 15 others.
After investigations it was revealed that the blast at Birma Bridge targeted Army Hospital Commandant who had a narrow escape and was a remote controlled blast.
“Government needs to curb such attacks by heavy crackdown on culprits to prevent further loss of civilian lives,” a social activist said. |
