Nagrota, Mar 27: The cricket ground at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, witnessed two exciting friendly matches between the students and staff of Govt. Degree College Nagrota as part of the Fit India Initiative, aimed to promote physical fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship among the college community. In the first match, the student team won the toss and elected to field. The staff team managed to score just 58 runs, setting a modest target. The student team displayed exceptional batting performance and comfortably won the match by 9 wickets. Mr. Rishab Singh, Semester 6th student, was the star of the match, earning the Man of the Match title for his unbeaten 42 runs, leading his team to a resounding win. The second match was a high-intensity contest, with the staff team batting first and setting a challenging target of 151 runs. The student team put up a strong fight but fell short, scoring 139 runs while losing 9 wickets. The staff team emerged victorious by 12 runs. Dr. Arvind Sharma was the standout performer, earning the Man of the Match title for his stellar knock of 65 runs off just 23 balls, along with an impressive three-wicket haul. These friendly matches not only highlighted the competitive spirit and talent of both teams but also strengthened the bond between students and faculty.
