Jammu Police issues advisory, appeals people to cooperate, remain alert on I-Day

Jammu, Aug 12: In view of the forthcoming Independence Day, present security scenario in the state and impending threats from some anti-national elements, Jammu police has issued an advisory about do's and dont's of security and seeking co-operation from common people with police at 'nakas' and frisking points. ''Nakas and frisking points have been established in Jammu city as well as rural areas for the security and safety of the general public. Don't feel it as harassment by the police but you are requested to coordinate with police,'' a police spokesperson here today said. "Barricades and checking will be intensified within the city and at the borders and from the security point of view", he said and added that it is requested to all the school managements in district Jammu that do not allow any stranger in the school and meanwhile give necessary precautions to the students. The spokesperson said, "General public also requested to take preventive actions like - do not touch any abandon object. However it is advised that on seeing any suspected person/object /material inform the police immediately." "If one has any information about any anti-national/anti- social elements, please inform the police immediately. Security of the informant shall be kept confidently," said an official urging masses to be alert while travelling in passenger vehicles, in crowded areas i.e Bus Stand/Railway Station/Shopping Complex/Hospitals etc. All SHOs and In charge Police Posts have been directed to remain present in their respective jurisdiction round the clock while Incharge Border Police Posts are directed to keep a vigil on infiltration routes used by ANEs in past while VDCs members Numberdars, Chowkidars have been directed to cooperate each other for safety and security of their respective villagers especially on the Independence Day, he added.
