SRINAGAR, Aug 12: The state government on Friday warned its employees of "dire consequences" if they take part in the valley protests.
In a stern directive, one of the cabinet ministers on Friday preferring anonymity informed Early Times that the government has written to all heads of the departments to take action against such employees who are involved in stone pelting or hurriyat protests.
Youth have hit the streets of the valley after the killing of Hizb commander in a gun fight on July 8. So far besides two policemen, 55 civilians have been killed.
The minister maintained that the directions have also been passed to all the district SP's to make a report indicating the number of employees who take part in the current protests and convey the same to the home department for action.
The minister added that taking part in a protest or stone pelting is a grave misconduct on part of a government employee under the Rules and the government employees can be dealt with, in accordance with the law. "Any employee going against the government by indulging in peace disturbing activity would face the consequences which, besides deduction of wages, may also include appropriate disciplinary action," the minister maintained.
One of the senior officials in civil secretariat admits that the directions have been issued by the government and that any employee found involved would be taken to task since even he has to face the dismissal. "There are service rule and there are laws to punish the employee who wages war against the state," the official said, adding that an employee could face dismissal, deduction in rank and stoppage of increment and many other things.
The BJP minister for PHE Sham Lal Chowdary when contacted also said that any government employee indulging in the wrongdoings in valley will be dealt sternly. "We are expecting that the situation in valley will return to normal after the 15 August. But yes we have asked the police to take action against such government employee who take part in the protests or stone pelting," the minister maintained.
It is to mention here that in the month of April, Government had put under suspension five of its employees for allegedly instigating protests against civilian killings in north Kashmir's Kupwara District.
Most of the suspended employees were from Education Department. The suspension order was issued by Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara vide No 11-DCK/ADM of 2016 Dated 18.04-2016.
