Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 12: Kuldeep Kumar Rao member of Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice urged the BJP Government to take steps for eliminating corruption. He had said that out of the total funds provided for the developmental works only 15% reaches to the ground level and the remaining 85% goes into private pockets. He alleged that honesty of Narinder Modi and some of his colleagues is not sufficient to take the country to real heights of development. Topmost priority will have to be given to check the commission system and other related corrupt practices which are playing havoc with the development efforts of the government. He said that MPs , MLAs, MLCs and Ministers will have to be made accountable for proper utilization of developmental funds. NGO's must also be made accountable. So a strong Lokpal at the centre & strong Lokayukts at state levels are the dire need of the day and the most important aspect is also reformation of electoral process so that only persons of high integrity and high capability should be our public representatives Rao also urged PDP-BJP coalition government headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to restore all snatched powers to State Accountability Commission which existed in the Act of 2002 otherwise bringing accountability in all the organs of the government would remain a distant dream. He said that SAC Chairperson Retd. Justice B.A. Khan has clearly stated that J&K state Accountability Commission Act, 2002 was stronger than the Lokpal Act of 2013 enacted by the parliament but the Legislators of the state on being misled by the bureaucrats carried out amendments in the Act in 2011 and rendered the Commission mere in ornamental piece instead of being a watchdog over the functioning of all the government institutions, He said that ex-CM, Omar Abdullah is on record to have said that corruption cannot be contained under coalition government and also said that State J&K government need not Lok Ayukta as it has State Accountability Commission & State Vigilance Commission in the state, though toothless toothless SAC & SVC is un-necessary burden on the hard earned tax pay money of the poor public. He added that public want strong Jan Lok Pal at the centre & strong Lok Ayukta at the State Level.
