Rajouri, Aug 12: in an uncharacteristic case parents stopped sending their wards to Govt Middle School after the department appointed a non-performer teacher at this school recently in Mawa village under jurisdiction of Sunderbani Education Zone of Rajouri district.
Villagers alleged that Rajni Bhargav teacher mostly remain on unauthorized absent from duty in nexus with higher officials of the department under the guise of conducting programmes and acting as anchor on the stages during officials/non-official functions.
"Immediately after joining at Govt Middle School at Mawa recently, she left for Jammu as, according to official sources, she was asked to conduct Independence Day celebration somewhere in Jammu" said Suresh Kumar,Panch.
He said that people have stopped sending their children to this school from Thursday in protest and have warned the higher education officers to admit their children in other schools if Rajni was allowed to work in this school.
On getting information about people's protest concerned ZEO and Principal Government Higher Secondary School,Sunderbani who also is cluster head, rushed to spot but failed to pacify the people despite their offer of sending additional Mathematics teacher.
Here it needs to mention that presently six teachers including Physical Education Teacher (PTI) have been appointed in Govt Middle School Mawa and Rajni Bhargav and Sat Pal teachers were transferred recently.
"We can't afford that our children to suffer in academics at the school as already half academic session is over and Rajni is a non-performer teacher is posted at their school" said Suresh Kumar.
On Saturday, Ravinder Raina, MLA is also visiting the village to talk with the people.
"As per education department directions the teachers who attend their duties regularly in Sunderbani tehsil should be appointed in the schools situated near the highway so that they may not suffer in due to long travelling from Jammu" said O P Sharma cluster head.
He added during recent transfers of over staying teachers Rajni was transferred to High School at Patrara (also in the same locality) and she managed her transfer (modification) to Middle school at Mawa. Meanwhile locals questioned why Rajni has managed (modification of transfer order) her transfer to middle school though both schools are situated in the same Panchyat and are near to highway. They claimed she did only to remain absent in unauthorized manner from duty.
