Former Assitt Labour Com Poonch among three lands in vigilance net

Jammu, Aug 12: Vigilance Organization today registered a case against the then Assistant Labour Commissioner Poonch among three officials of Labour Department Poonch for demanding and accepting bribe from beneficiaries for providing registration cards.
According to official spokesperson, "A verification conducted by Vigilance Organization into the complaint lodged by Patron of JK Sahara Federation into the allegations of demand and acceptance of bribe by the officers/officials of Assistant Labour Commissioner's office, from the labourers of Poonch during the year 2011-12 in lieu of their registration in Labour Department revealed that the Govt in order to uplift the economic condition of labour class in running a scheme known as Jammu and Kashmir Buildings and other construction workers Board (RE&CS)."
"Verification revealed that these labourers/beneficiaries have been asked to pay the bribe by officers/officials of Assistant Labour Commissioner's office, Poonch namely Abdul Aziz Bhatti, the then Assistant Labour Commissioner Poonch, Romesh Chander, Process Server and Mohd Naseem, Care Taker of Labour Department Poonch for providing the registration cards, he said.
He added that these officers/officials of Assistant Labour Commissioner's office Poonch demanded and accepted Rs 5000, Rs 6000 and Rs8000 respectively from various beneficiaries/labourers in order to issued registration cards on their names and thereafter sanction respective assistance in their favour.
Official said that aforesaid acts of omissions and commissions on the part of Abdul Aziz Bhatti, the then Assistant Commissioner, Poonch, Romesh Chander, Process Server and Mohd Naseem, Care Taker of Labour Department Poonch and others prima-facia disclose the commission of the offences punishable u/s 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act Svt. 2006, Section 4-A J&K P.C. Act (Amendment Act 2014) and Section 120-B RPC. Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 18/2016 has been registered in P/S VOJ and investigation taken up.
