JAMMU, Aug 4: It was on July 8 that the Indian security forces accomplished a great feat by liquidating Hizbul Mujahideen's Kashmir's poster boy Burhan Wani. Ever since then, Kashmir is on the boil. About 50, mostly stone-pelters, persons have lost their lives and thousands, including security forces personnel, have suffered injuries. Even after 28 days, things have not improved. Jammu, Aug 4: As the unrest in Kashmir completed its 27th day, the separatists on Thursday issued yet another protest calendar and extended the shutdown till August 12 (Friday).
Separatists have been issuing the protest calendars since the day Hizbul militant Burhan Wani died in a gunfight with the security forces at Kokernag in south Kashmir on July 8.
The new calendar has challenged the authority of the Deputy Commissioners and has asked them not to intimidate the government employees to reach the offices and attend the duties. The separatists have also asked people to block the roads leading towards the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.

Taking undue advantage of the present turmoil and authorities clampdown on telecommunication in Kashmir valley which has been on boil since July 8, the authorized franchise of BSNL have so far sold hundreds of SIM cards to locals which are otherwise meant for the convenience of Amarnath pilgrims.

JAMMU, July 4: The 'powerful' police SI, who owns four hotels in the winter capital city here and an under-construction restaurant at Bhatindi, has ultimately been attached to the district police lines (DPL) here.

Jammu, Aug 4: In an interesting development, an "unusual RTI activist" has been making frequent visits to the University of Jammu (JU) "to use his influence on the University administration to seek undue benefit for his wife.
The irony is that the University, which claims to have put restrictions on the entry of outsiders visiting the campus without any purpose, had offered "VIP treatment" to this officer every time whenever he visited the campus for non-official purposes.

SRINAGAR, Aug 4: The uncertainty over holding of Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections continues as authorities have decided to defer the polls in view of the ongoing unrest in Kashmir.
The government had decided to hold Municipal elections in May and Panchayat elections in June this year. However, polls were deferred in view of state budget session of the Legislature which started from May 25 and ended in June in Srinagar.
