5/10/2014 11:19:18 PM

Early Times Report
URI, May 10: Scores of Congress leaders from Uri Constituency today claimed that 98 percent National Conference workers voted for People's Democratic Party candidate Muzafar Hussain Beigh and the decision was taken in a secret meeting at Chandanwari that was presided by a former NC MLC.
Castigating Mohammad Shafi Uri for blaming Taj Mohi-ud-Din for failing to meet his commitment of support to the coalition candidate Sharief-u-Din Sharik, a delegation of Congress workers led by Block President Uri, Hamid-ur-Rehman told that National Conference top leadership including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is well aware of this fact that NC workers did not cast their votes in favour of coalition candidate and they indulged in cross voting.
"During an election rally addressed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the son of Shafi Uri along with his supporters did not participate in the rally and remained absent. Some of the senior and prominent workers of NC were the polling agents of PDP and others in which Fayaz Geelani, Khurshid Ahmed were polling agents at polling stations 34 and 35 respectively," he said.
He further claimed that a secret meeting of NC leaders was held at Chadanwari under the chairmanship of former NC MLC and executive member Mohammad Aslam in which 24 top workers of National Conference participated and decided to vote for PDP. "Plan to indulge in cross voting was decided in the very meeting. These leaders had already decided in the meeting that all their votes should go in favour of PDP and they did the same," Mir said adding that the ratio of votes from the voters of NC remained very low as they did not want to support the Coalition candidate.
