M.Phil pass outs of DSRS awaiting admission in PhD since 2010 Ishar's Amritsariya lobby playing with future of Jammu youth 5/10/2014 11:20:42 PM Bivek Mathur JAMMU, May 10: Lobbyism at Jammu University (JU) is ruling the roost as under pressure from the Amritsar University's lobby, of which VC JU MPS Ishar had remained an active member in the past has adjusted some incompetent faculty members who are denying admissions to Department for Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS) pass outs of M.Phil without any valid reason. As per reliable sources, the Jammu University Vice Chancellor MPS Ishar had adjusted some lecturers who are not even Ph.d but they are being remunerated heavily by the University administration despite of the fact that no M.Phil pass out was enlisted for the Ph.D programme since 2010 by these influential. As per sources, the current batch of M.Phil scholars comprising five students got admission in November-December 2013 and there is strength of three faculty members in the department. Of the three members, two faculty members are from outside the state namely Prof Munir Alam and Dr. Sunil. Dr Sunil was old acquaintance of MPS Ishar as both had worked together at Amritsar University and hence was adjusted at JU when Ishar could not go against the pressure of Amritsar University. The same man has been working in JU only for salary and has denied taking any scholar under him owing to reason, which he justified as-"Jammu ke bache nalayak hain." The other faculty members namely Surinder Mohan in non Ph.D and hence he cannot take any scholar under his guidance for the research course. Further, the I/C Director of the Department Baljeet Singh again hails from Amritsar owing to his understanding with Ishar and this Amritsariya factor has been awarded by the VC and the faculty members has also been given the post of Director of Nehru hostel. Till the time, the person who is holding key position of Director DSRS has not conducted any fair Departmental Research Committee (DRC) meeting which was strongly objected by the students in the past following which VC had assured them that the said professor will be freed from the position of I/C Director but the pressure of Amritsar lobby is somehow responsible for not making such a decision till the time. The best and competent faculty members, as per sources, who had worked for the betterment of the department are being intrigued in different planned conspiracies to serve their personal interest but VC JU is silent over the entire drama just for the reason that he don't want to go against the decisions of Amritsar University.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
