Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has alleged twisted rules to get him official bungalow in the posh Lutyen Delhi, the home to Prime Minister and Cabinet Minister.
It's one of the most sought after residential address in the entire country. Sources said, his allotment is likely to be challenged in the court. As per the rules, no Chief Minister is allotted bungalow in New Delhi. Only Cabinet Ministers are entitled to it. No other Chief Minister of the country has got bungalow there. Chief Minister, tweeting in response to reports of his bungalow, had said that he has only swapped his residential address with the Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad from Akbar road to South Avenue.
Omar cleverly evaded the query in what capacity he was allotted bungalow for more than six-year in the Delhi. Azad, being a Union Minister is entitled to it but not the Chief Minister. He can use J&K house for residence whenever he has to visit Delhi. Even many times MP are allotted just flat in the Delhi not bungalow. Not only MPs even senior bureaucrats, top economists and top police officials are not given bungalow that too in Lutyen Delhi.
He can take consolation from the fact that Himachal Pradesh CM is also staying in bungalow in the Delhi. But that is also a case of violation of rules and two wrongs can make one right. According to sources he used his proximity to the Congress vice-president to twist the rules and get him residential address of the most prized land in the country.
According to sources, many top bureaucrats had made strong objections to this allotment. Sources said his allotment is to be challenged in the court. Supreme Court had taken serious note of over staying in the official bungalow in the past and had ordered their exit. This is a case of sheer violation of the rules and it's most expected that his allotment will be cancelled.
