Listless NC testing risky waters? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 22: Not much long back when National Congress High Command showed doors to its potential candidate Ajatshatru Singh paving way for its heavyweight lieutenant Devinder Singh Rana to take over Nagrota constituency for the forthcoming state elections, it has stirred another hornet's nest in Gulmarg constituency where the uncleshipman is all set to dusk on former Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and National Conference Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmad Mir's prospects who is likely to step aside to accommodate Mustafa Kamaal for the contest. As per a usual temperament of a Jammu politician, while Ajatshatru Singh is said to have eaten the humble pie, Showkat Ahmad Mir from Kashmir province has shown his teeth, though quite clandestinely signaling gesture to Omar Abdullah and his NC that party is definite to face doom in Gulmarg if such attempt is made. Mir has allegedly openly told the NC cadre that he was the person who lifted the drooped spirits of the NC in Gulmarg when its presence in the constituency was miniscule and an endeavour to sideline him will face voters' backlash while giving meaty edge to the opposition. While Ajatshatru Singh has obeyed his masters' command in favour of DevenderRana, reports emanating from Nagrota too do not signal healthy signs for NC as has been apparent from the ground zero that is anti-Omar . How Gulmarg reacts to a decision favouring Mustafa and ousting Mir by NC is water yet to be tested. |
