Early Times Report nagrota, Aug 22: Sharing his dream of transforming Nagrota into Nawan Jammu, with forty-five listeners (who necessarily may not be his followers) National Conference (NC) Provincial President, Devender Singh Rana sought six years to make his dream come true. Rana said if Jammu has expanded beyond Bari Brahmana, there is no reason why Nagrota cannot become a modern township keeping in view its topographical bliss, scenic splendour, huge land mass, rivulets and open spaces. Rana could have struck a chord with his handful of listeners but for his mention of Omar Abdullah. He praised Chief Minister for his six-year tenure of `development and progress'. And this is where he committed a grave error. Only three months ago, the people of Jammu rejected Omar's coalition partner Congress in the Lok Sabha elections for neglecting the Jammu region. Omar is also accused of failure on all fronts. He talked about developing Nagrota into a model city without promising a golf course. Well, how can NC leaders survive without a golf course? A golf course has to come up everywhere whether the ecology of a place allows it or not. |
